Job Description


Lead a 4 person team reporting to the production supervisor. The team will run two adjacent quality inspection units. The team will consist of yourself, one Operator 2 and two Operator 1’s. You are responsible for the parameters of the inspection equipment, basic troubleshooting and validation of cans. Additionally, you will follow the reaction plan to notify the production supervisor in the event of excessive rejects or machine downtime.



  • Start and operate the quality inspection unit and request assistance from the maintenance department in case of technical problems. Perform basic troubleshooting. Work together with the maintenance department to optimize steady production.
  • Lead the team by assigning work stations and duties, facilitating training when needed and resolving complex line situations. You are expected to resolve minor issues and involve the production supervisor when necessary.
  • Make sure your Operators understand the SOP’s and required TPM’s. Insure the checklist documentation is signed as the duties are performed.
  • Record accurate downtimes for the machines on the appropriate logs. Take the count and reject information at 4:30. Both the downtimes and counts will be submitted to the production supervisor.
  • Brief the oncoming Vision Inspection Lead at the shift changeover. Cover maintenance, reject and production issues so they have a full understanding of the machines current condition.
  • Monitor production performing visual can inspection at prescribed intervals during production. Insure that defect cans are not being stacked in finished good trays in the palletizers. Check to see if the machine is causing any damage to the cans. Document via log. Report any findings and initiate quarantine of the NCR product.  
  • Be aware of reject rates at the inspection unit including root causes and follow the reaction plan escalation process in case of rejects above the described thresholds. Notify the production supervisor and toolmakers as required.
  • Monitor the ISRA camera equipment and make sure the mirrors are clean. Be aware of the standard settings and correct any discrepancy.
  • Perform general housekeeping duties in your assigned area as needed and described in the TPM procedure.
  • Follow company policies, procedures and comply with standard safety rules and regulations.
  • Work as a team player and proactively support the continuous improvement process by attending workshops, recommending adjustments standard work instructions, taking part in problem solving meetings and helping to find root causes.
  • Support in developing and improving the work environment to reach the goal of 667k output/line per shift.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, stand, stoop, kneel, crouch and reach with hands and arms, use hands to finger, handle or feel, to talk or hear, is occasionally required to sit or crawl and to lift up to 25lbs.  Close vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus is required.  Employee will be in a manufacturing environment with a moderate to high noise level, experiencing vibration on a regular basis.  Regularly required to work near moving mechanical parts and be exposed to fumes or airborne particles.  Must have the ability to lift one box of parts weighing 35 lbs.,   to reach to use tools and equipment, to manipulate and feel small parts for inspection, to inspect small parts visually and through use of magnifying equipment and to perceive depth to set up equipment.
